The spirit of the Bay Area Public Pool Operators (BAPPOA) Lifeguard Games is to provide an opportunity for all lifeguards to compete and showcase their skills no matter what governing body certified them. In order to make the overall competition fair for all competitors, these events do not directly represent one particular lifeguard-training agency. Judging criteria reflects a combination of all rescue skills from different lifeguard training programs.
