2012 Lifeguarding In Water Orientation

In March 2012, the Bay Area Public Pool Operators Association in partnership with the American Red Cross successfully hosted the 2012 Lifeguard Program In-water orientation at Mills College.
This event gave Lifeguard Training Instructor Trainers a chance to network with fellow IT’s, compare teaching strategies, and troubleshoot local challenges in delivering the new Lifeguarding program. There were experts in Lifeguarding, Waterfront Lifeguarding, Waterpark Lifeguarding, and Shallow water Lifeguarding.

The "Bay Area Public Pool Operators Association" began in 1982 with a handful of aquatic professionals who met to discuss, share, inform and benefit from each others programs and experiences. Through this medium the organization has grown to over 175 members on the mailing list and we average over 40 persons at each meeting. BAPPOA is recognized throughout California and the country as a vital leader and advocate in Aquatics.

Change in Membership Policy - Effective July 1, 2009
At the January 2009 meeting, the members present voted and adopted By-Laws for BAPPOA as presented at the meeting. This was the first in a series of steps necessary for BAPPOA to become a non-profit organization. The Board of Directors is working to complete and submit the paperwork necessary to finalize BAPPOA's status as 501(c)3 non-profit. As part of this process, BAPPOA will be shifting to a membership based organization. Starting July 1, 2009, BAPPOA will be collecting membership dues.
